Interesting discussion with the students today when they created their visual survey.
Some examples :
Through the students surveys, it was interesting to see the impact other students have on their work. The arrows showing the relationships between their writing and others. Students see the importance of their peers with their writing.
Also interviewed students the same questions that I asked parents. Some areas that came up through discussion:
- Mum and Dad write when they are working
- Postcards and writing to grandparents doesn't happen often - (there needs to be a purpose)
- spelling is very important to students when they are writing
- They all had a strong sense that they were great writers but didn't see themselves as an author.
- No one really has a journal
- Authors write great stories because there is not mistakes, using verbs, interesting words
